Enrique Bardají has taken part in the conference on Planning Instruments for a New Urban Agenda, organised by the Sustainable Urban Development Department of Madrid City Council. This conference was held in the context of the Third United Nations Conference on housing and sustainable urban development (Habitat III), which was held in Quito, Ecuador, from 17-20 October 2016.
Habitat III will be the first big global conference since Agenda 2030 came into force in January 2016, offering a space for debating the opportunities provided by urban development for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
“Urban development will offer opportunities to develop strategies to mitigate climate change”. This declaration is from the Secretary General of the Third United Nations Conference on Sustainable Housing and Urban Development, Habitat III, Dr. Joan Clos, who was summarising this important world event on urban development, which brought together representatives of 193 countries.
